✦ Tattoo Aftercare ✦

Wooohooo! You just got a new tattoo!πŸŽ‰ Here I will explain how to take care of it.

If I applied second skin (dermal film):

  • Keep the film on for 3–5 days, unless it starts to leak or peel earlier.

  • Some fluid build-up under the film is normal.

  • When it’s time to remove: wash your hands first, then peel up a corner and slowly pull the film back over your skin, not away from it. Doing this under a hot shower makes removal easier.

  • After removing the film, wash your tattoo morning and night with unscented soap for 14 days. Let it air dry or use a clean paper towel.

  • From day 3 onwards, apply a very thin layer of Bepanthen Tattoo or the Kruidvat dupe 2–3 times a day. Don’t overdo it β€” too much cream suffocates the tattoo.

If you have plastic foil:

  • Keep the foil on for 2–4 hours after your tattoo.

  • When you remove it, wash your hands first, then wash your tattoo right away with unscented soap.

  • After that, wash your tattoo morning and night with unscented soap for 14 days. Let it air dry or use a clean paper towel.

  • From day 3 onwards, apply a very thin layer of Bepanthen Tattoo or the Kruidvat dupe 2–3 times a day. Less is more.

General Healing Tips:

  • Always wash your hands before touching your tattoo.

  • Your tattoo will peel and itch like a sunburn β€” this is normal. Do not scratch or pick: it can pull out the ink, cause scars, or lead to infection.

  • Avoid swimming, saunas, tanning beds, and soaking in baths for at least 2 weeks.

  • Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight while healing.

  • Wear clean, loose clothing to avoid irritation.

  • Healing usually takes 2–4 weeks.
